April 5 2025 – Re-greening with Rotary Adopt-a-Tree Program at Carcoar

OFF members and friends helping re-green the country.

A wonderful re-greening event, helping to restore farmland with trees, and giving nature a helping hand. More than 30 enthusiastic volunteers from Bathurst, Orange, Sydney and Wollongong planted 1000 native canopy and understorey trees at Sam and Elanor Cooke’s 440 hectare property which flanks the northern side of Carcoar Dam.

The Rotary Club of Bathurst lead this Rotary Adopt A Tree project and was ably supported by Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society. Many thanks to our hosts, Rotary Bathurst and all volunteers for their contributions. The event underscored the importance of environmental stewardship and community involvement. Thanks to everyone who participated.

A wonderful planting event at Goongirwarrie, Carcoar  (3.5hrs west of Sydney, 45km west of Bathurst) This an excellent opportunity to spend a weekend in a lovely historical country town, boosting the local economy and enhancing the local environment. This event is part of the Rotary Adopt a Tree program which was successfully planted more than 20,000 trees in the past 4 years.

Sam and Elenor Cook  own a 440 hectare sheep and cattle property and have previously planted thousands of trees. The flat site will be cleared, fenced and ripped ready for planting 1000 trees. There is so much to see and do in and around Carcoar so bring your friends and family for a weekend in the country.
