Starting from Garrawarra farm our group of 13 set off in mild temperatures on the 10km walk. A Lyrebird was spotted in the first 5 minutes as we headed along the fire trail. We set off down the hill and enjoyed morning tea and an atmospheric view of the sea mist covered south coast from Werong Lookout. It was delightful to walk through the jungle of towering, glossy leaved Cabbage Tree Palms and twisted vines.
Two brave souls ventured in for a swim at Burning Palms Beach, while others ate lunch admiring the varied hues and formations of the beach rocks and dolphins frolicking in the surf. Although we had some light rain it didn’t dampen spirits and kept us cool for the walk up the hill back to the cars.
