Eight walkers were expertly guided by our leader Vicki Bolling, on a 6 km (3 1/2 hour) circuit through beautiful bush, including some steep downs and ups along well formed tracks and fire trails, as well some minor tracks. We met at the bottom end of First Ave, Loftus (next to the southern side of Woronora Cemetery). From there we dropped down to Prince Edward Park at Woronora, before walking up the Woronora pipeline fire trail and back up to the start.
Morning tea was at Forbes Creek where we saw dragonflies and a colourful beetle. Lunch was at the top of the ridge, up from the youth camp, the flat topped rocks ideal for sitting for our lunch. We saw some spring flowers, and the highlight of the walk were the stunning Angophora costatas, commonly known as Sydney red gum, with their freshly peeled limbs.
