Tom Hunt gave the audience a comprehensive explanation of carbon, its chemistry, its many varied forms and effects on our climate. His talk was accompanied by many illuminating slides. Of particular interest is the fact that the earth is actually in an inter-glacial period at the moment, but increasing Carbon Dioxide levels are still forecast to cause the planet’s temperature to increase in this period, causing potentially catastrophic harm to life.
